More About Hoops 4 Health
The Hoops 4 Health concept was created in conjunction with the Redfern & Wu Chopperen AMS’ from 1995-2001. 2002 saw the official launch of The Hoops 4 Health Program in Cairns with Founder, Timmy Duggan, MC Trevor Tim, Olympian Danny Morseu, Health advocate Bernard David, Cairns basketball legend, Deba George and Australian Indigenous Doctors Association Member, Dr. Mark Wenitong. In 2006 World Champion Boxer, Anthony Mundine was announced as an official patron. 2006 was also the unveiling of the inaugural H4H mascot, Hooper. In 2011 H4H was awarded the NAPCAN ‘Play Your Part Award’ for services to young people in the Northern Territory. Over 10,000 youths participated in the H4H Live Longer Campaign across Northern Australia in 2011-2013. From 2016 founder, Timmy Duggan, has conducted over 300 H4H sessions with Danila Dilba in Don Dale Youth Detention Centre.
