Hoops 4 Health Australia conducts weekly sessions inside youth detention centres across Australia with a focus on programs in the Northern Territory. The program and program facilitators come with a basketball background, but our focus is establishing relationships and engaging our clients in a cultural friendly way. Celebrating the success of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander success is a constant of the program. Programs are conducted inside the centres and follow up programs occur on the outside with young people at risk of re-entering the youth justice system. We have a tremendous relationship with Aboriginal youth who have been caught up in the system and have conducted over 700 sessions in Don Dale Youth Detention Centre since 2016. We also conduct programs in Mission Australia Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Service in Darwin and the Darwin and Alice Springs Prisons.
